Mohiuddin “Din” Ahmed

has been executed

It is with devastating sadness that we must report the death of an innocent man, Din Ahmed.

Our dear friend Din was executed in Bangladesh, along with four other men, shortly after midnight on Thursday Jan 28th, 2010.

The day before Din died he saw his wife Hena, his mother and other relatives. On that last visit, knowing he would soon be murdered, Din was very strong and told them not to cry. He told them, "I have done nothing to make you ashamed of me. I'm not the first innocent man to die in Bangladesh because of politics and I won't be the last. But soon I will be in a better place than this prison. Don't worry or cry for me. Take care of yourselves and please thank everyone who tried to help me. Words can not express my gratitude to all of you."

Din died knowing he was loved by hundreds of people around the world. Din died knowing there are thousands of people around the world who know he is innocent and who never gave up trying to save him until there was no longer any chance.

Din died knowing his life, his values, his good deeds will live on in his wife, his children, his grandson, and in his extended family.

We were able to keep Din alive long enough for him to know we believed in him. We kept him alive long enough to know his son Rouben found a good wife, named Trina. We kept him alive long enough for Din know he has a grandson named, Zayd.

And as Zayd gets older we will teach him that his grandfather was a hero in the history of Bangladesh and a hero in our eyes as well.  We are honored to say we knew Din for many years in America and we can tell you, without any reservations, Din was not guilty of anything except believing that the truth would somehow save him. Unfortunately truth means nothing in a country like Bangladesh.

Din’s wife Hena wants all of you to know she is proud to be Din's wife and his son Rouben, along with his sister Sabrina, want you all to know they are very proud of their father in the way he lived and the way he died.

We are all better people because of Din and he will always be in my heart.

Speaking on behalf of Din and his family we want to thank everyone for their love and support through out these many years.

Team Din
